The Heart of the Community Awards is an annual celebration to recognise the remarkable and inspirational people within our community. The awards ceremony was hosted by the Grimsby Telegraph and sponsored by many organisations and businesses across North East Lincolnshire.
The categories included ‘Child of Courage’, ‘Inspiring Youngster’, ‘Young Sports Star’, ‘Friend/Neighbour of the year’, ‘community Sports Award’, ‘Emergency Service Award’, ‘Services to Charity’, ‘Business in the Community’, ‘Volunteer of the year’, ‘Carer of the year’, ‘Community Project of the year’ and the category that Harbour Place was nominated for, ‘Public Service Award’.
Everyone at Harbour Place was overwhelmed to be nominated for this award and was really humbled to get down to the final three. On November 23rd, Sue Davidson-Lamb and Tina Andrew got dolled up to represent our fantastic organisation at the awards event held at the Oakland’s hotel. The food was amazing and the event very well organised.
The Public Service Award was for an individual, group or organisation that goes an extra mile in offering a service available to the public. Harbour Place was up against two worthy finalists, Jane Irons who runs the Village Shop at Limber and the Lympoedema Clinic at St Andrews Hospice. We were so fortunate to win the category which was sponsored by Engie.
As an organisation we would like to thank whoever nominated us and to the judges for choosing us to recognise. It was a fantastic night and one that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
